About MakeAbook.org

Our goal is to encourage creativity in children and work with them to become published authors. Though the Make A Book project was originally geared towards working with children that have been hospitalized, we feel that the benefits are fun and up building for anyone.

For children in hospitals, we start by sitting with them and listening to their story; whatever it may be. The goal is to capture and get them to enjoy a facet of their youth that is hard to maintain in such a serious environment. The goal is simple. Listen to the child’s story. Help write the story down and illustrate all characters and backgrounds that will help bring the story to life. After the characters are created, a rough draft of the book is put together.

The first copy goes to its author. All books worked on at Make A Book will be made available for purchase via the makeabook.org website as well as the self-publishing websites used. All proceeds for a book will go to its corresponding author.
