Listening to the story

The first step is sitting down and listening to the child’s story and helping them develop their ideas.

The story will be jotted down along with character sketches. The children work together with the artist to come up with fun and cool characters and images.

After going over the completed story or scheduling to meet again, the information is taken back to MakeAbook.org to be turned into a real book.

Creating the Book

After all the information and sketches have been gathered, the pages of the book are put in order.

Additional images are drafted and scanned in to help with story development.

The grammar and vocabulary are proofed.

Finally a cover is designed and the child author’s information is added to the finished book.

Publishing the Book

With all the pages and drawings in place, the book is sent off to be published.

Once completed, the child is presented with their very own copy of their book.

The book will also be made available for download via the makeabook.org website. The authors will also be able to promote their books in any way they want.

Whether in a school, hospital or wherever, working with talented designers and writers to capture the creativity of children is the goal.
